KALA Upgrade Path

Here are three options for entry, each offering the possibility of upgrading to KALA 50 level later:

  1. Begin with a KALA 41 as the Server, streaming to your DAC’s Ethernet input. Later, enhance sound quality to KALA 50 level by adding either a KALA 21 or KALA 22.
  2. Start with a KALA 22 serving as both Server and Player, playing through your DAC’s USB, S/PDIF, AES3, or I2S input. Upgrade sound quality later to KALA 50 level by incorporating a KALA 41 to assume the Server function.
  3. Initiate with a KALA 21 for both Server and Player, directing music to your DAC’s USB input. Enhance sound quality to KALA 50 level via USB by integrating a KALA 41 to take over the Server role.

The combination of KALA 41 & KALA 22 mirrors the KALA 50 in terms of cost, electronics, and performance across all aspects. Similarly, the performance of the KALA 41 and KALA 21 combination equals that of the KALA 50 when utilizing the KALA 50’s USB output, at a more budget-friendly price.
